Faculty of Science and Teachnology


        The faculty of Science and Technology was developed from faculty of Science, Suratthani Teachers’ College which offered a lower certificate level in 1976 and a higher certificate in 1978. The Bachelor Degree programs have been offered since 1980, and graduate program since 2004. The Faculty’s development shows as the followings.

            • In 1976, offered a lower certificate level (Cert. in Education)
            • In 1978, offered a higher certificate program in Science (Higher Cert. in Science) in General Science and Industrial Art.

            • In 1979, provided in service training degree program for teachers and personnel in education for Bachelor Degree in General Science.
            • In 1980, offered a higher certificate program in Home Economics Science and a 2 year-degree program, Bachelor of Education in General Science.
            • In 1982, offered a higher certificate program in Mathematics
            • In 1984, offered a 4 year and 2 year-program, Bachelor of Education in Home Economics Science.
            • In 1985, offered a 4 year-program, Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and General Science.
            • In 1987, offered a 4 year-program, Bachelor of Education in Home Economics Science.
            • In 1992, the college was renamed by His Majesty the King as Rajabhat Suratthani Institute.
            • In 1993, offered a diploma program in Foods and Clothing, and a 4 year-degree program in Arts Creation and Health Education.
            • In 1995, offered a 4 year-program, Bachelor of Science in Health Science ( Child Health Promotion)
            • In 1996, offered a diploma program in Plants Science.
            • In 1998, offered a 2 year-degree program, Bachelor of Science in Plants Science and Ceramic Technology.             • In 1999, the management changed from the Faculty Department to the Faculty Program, offered a diploma program in Electric, Metal and Engine Science.
            • In 2000, offered a 4 year-program, Bachelor of Education in Physics.
            • In 2001, offered a 2 year-program, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts Technology, and a 4 year-program, Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Technology.
            • In 2002, Stopped offering a Bachelor of Education but offered only 4-year program; Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Physics, Public Health Science, Health Science (Child Health Promotion), and  Home Economics  (Food and Nutrition)
            • In 2003, offered a master degree program, Master of Education in Science Studies and Master of Science in Environmental Science.
            • In 2005, offered a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science.
            • In 2006, offered a master degree program, Master of Education in Mathematics Education; a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Product Design and Agricultural Science.
            • In 2007, proposed a project for an establishment of a Faculty of Nursing and Health Science.
            • In 2009, revised a Bachelor Degree program in Computer Science to meet the standard of Thai Qualification Framework for Higher Education (TQF).
            • In 2010, developed a Bachelor Degree program in Materials Technology and Production to meet the standard of Thai Qualification Framework for Higher Education (TQF).
            • In 2011, developed a Bachelor Degree program in Computer Technology to meet the standard of Thai Qualification Framework for Higher Education (TQF), a program in Information Technology was accredited as it met the standard of Thai Qualification Framework for Higher Education (TQF).

        At the present, 17 programs are offered which are program in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science (Plants Science),  Agricultural Science (Husbandry), Aquaculture Technology, Industrial Product Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Community Health, Industrial Management Technology, Industrial Electrical Technology, Materials Technology and Manufacturing, Computer Technology (Multimedia, Telecommunication for Communication, Computer Technology Management)

        The Faculty of Science and Technology is a leading university in the region for graduates, research, innovation, academic services and cultural preservation.


        1. Produce outstanding graduates of Science in each program with systematic thinking, moral, public mind and Thai being.

        2. Research and develop new knowledge, develop local and modern technology to suit the way of living and earning of people in a community. Including promote, manage, preserve natural resources and environment for a balance and sustainable use.

        3. Provide academic services for community by networking and collaborating with community, local organizations and others in both domestics and overseas for sustainable development through a Technology Clinic.

        4. Promote and preserve local arts and cultural activities.

        5. Research and promote to strengthen a local community.

Environmental Health Curriculum

Strength The Environmental Health Program was approved by the University Council in 2016. It is an integrated environment, with intensive teaching and learning activities aimed at students achieving their learning goals and with a very low dropout rate. The Environmental Health Curriculum is widely accepted, supported in both the public and private sectors and before practicing professional experience. There is an invited entrepreneur from outside to lecture students to prepare and support professional practice.

Plant Science Curriculum

Strength Plant Science Curriculum is a course that focuses on teaching skills, work and better lives for students. It has close supervision from generation to generation like a family. The students are harmonious, reconciled, diligent, patient, and submissive. The curriculum titled “School Preparation for Vegetable Crops and Plant Breeding Preservation of local vegetables, such as sticks, stingrays and rattan” is designed to meet the needs of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to be environmentally friendly. There are 21 species of Coconut Genetic Conservation in Surat Thani. There were students participating in collecting data to research and expand the orchid export.

Biology Curriculum

Strength  Biology curriculum focuses on the word "local" primarily because of the instruction that is associated with the local. It focuses on the integration of local natural resources to apply to teaching. Therefore, drop out of students is low. The curriculum encourages local products to be shared with the community. Publications of student journals are available at the national students’ presentation. Students are invited to participate in research with the local community and receive awards from the Office of the Higher Education Commission. There are also training courses involved with local branches for local people, such as cultivating, and tissue culture. There is supporting of revenue and supplementing careers through social media, joining with a charitable foundation in faith to conserve the environment. 

Physics Curriculum

Strength  Physics Curriculum has instructors in courses that have academic positions that are fully equipped, where knowledge and quality can be transferred to graduate students. It is good to have a quality system for graduates called "Cooperative Education" to encourage graduates to learn. The program has been endorsed by the International Physics Federation. There are also research papers presented by 5 Rajabhat Universities of graduated students with 100% having jobs. Most of the students are teachers. The curriculum is closely supervised, has a warm environment, and a good consul. 

Multimedia and Animation Curriculum

Strength Students in multimedia and animation courses can apply the course to everyday life as well. Students can earn extra income from classroom learning to lead to the practical learning. The market demand is high and the unemployment situation is very low.

Animal Science Curriculum

Strength Students can pursue professional training in a variety of fields. There is 100% employment rate. Students earn income while studying. The course is a general education. Students have a passion for learning and working.

Aquaculture Technology Curriculum

Strength The Aquaculture Technology Curriculum focuses on teaching and using practical skills, and learning how to actually practice it. Students are sent to train in professional experience with more than 10 places. The social media were used as a channel for care, and to communicate with students closely. Students are sent to the conference and skills competitions with 100% graduates. Some are entrepreneurs themselves such as the owner of a shellfish farm, beautiful fish business owner, export online business, fish pond owner, etc.

Disaster Management Program 

Strength Disaster Management is a new discipline of the Faculty of Science and Technology. It started the first year in 2015. The curriculum development is in line with the mission of the university to produce graduates for academic excellence in response to local and national developments. The course is aimed at the development of knowledge. It is the tool to handle the challenges of the disaster, teaching and focusing on students to study in the field, and implemented in the community. The student has the opportunity to be a lecturer, both inside and outside the organisation.

External Collaboration and Partnerships :

In order to advance friendly relations between Suratthani Rajabhat university, Thailand and National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan join in the following agreement on the promotion of education and academic exchanges between the two universities.

M-Community GreenEve2Peace (GE2P) for Fishing Community is a project with the collaboration of Surattani Rajabhat University and Khun Talay Fishing Community which aimed to enhance aquaculture management and preservation of fresh water lake in Surattani, Thailand. GE2P project team has adapted the GE2P system to tailor to the requirement of local fishing community. The system has started to benefit the fishing community since March 2012.

GE2P incorporates technology into the management and preservation of aquatic life. By using web and mobile technology, GE2P provide services that utilize the Short Message Services (SMS) gateway to disseminate information to the Khun Talay Fishing Community on the fishing activities such as date, time to feed fishes and the correct strategy to fishing based on the tide. GE2P also provides service that collects information on weather from various sources via the net to produce a reliable weather forecast. Based on the forecast, the system adminstrator in Khun Talay Fishing Community will formulate advice on fishing activities and broadcast it via SMS as well as the web. By incorporating such technologies, communication breakdowns are resolved and decision making on fishing activities are now done in a more appropriate and intelligent manner. Thus, it is hoped that this project could improve, thereby ensure the sustainability of aquaculture management.

The mission of this project is to globalize M-Community GreenEve2Peace for Fishing Community by providing proper education, information dissemination and promoting services to the fishing community to improve the quality of life through productive aquaculture and continuous local ecosystem conservation. In addition, the goal of this project is to establish links between the communities and to encourage the participation of fishing communities, fishing related companies and authorities from various countries in Southeast Asia.
